About Dr. Wilson
Mindfulness
If you want to peruse my credentials you can skip to the next paragraphs, but if you want to get to know me continue reading. My main ambition in life is to make the world a better place and help people find happiness and meaning in what they are creating, experiencing or basically doing. By "doing," I mean doing in all aspects of their lives. I think it is irreputable to deny the necessary and beautiful interconnection by all these aspects that make us who we are. I never agreed with the "work-life balance." I believe in the "work-life fit." That was a concept I stumbled across early-on in my research on performance psychology and positive psychology. It led to the question of how can we find the fit in all these seemingly disparate aspects of ourselves while confronting so many adversities. There are circumstances related to the myriad of mental health conditions that most of the population will experience at some point, such as depression and anxiety, which have the highest recidivism rates. This is because a lot of times people are only getting treatment for symptoms and not the core cause. I do my best to provide tools to mitigate the symptoms, but I am also about hitting the core of the suffering and empowering you with tools and understanding to level up beyond just being ok.
I received my master’s and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology). I graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin where I received a B.A. in Anthropology and a B.A. in Psychology with Special Degree Honors. I have extensive training and experience from leading institutions, such as Stanford University and nationally and state accredited hospitals, which utilize cutting-edge, evidenced-based treatments. I am certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) facilitator and received my formal training from Dr. Bob Stahl and Dr. Maryanna Klatt of Ohio State University School of Allied Medicine. I have facilitated mindfulness trainings in a variety of settings ranging from inpatient psychiatric facilities to corporate offices.
I began my formal training working with at-risk youth and adult substance abusers. I furthered my education by participating in Sofia University/Stanford University Health Psychology research and working under the supervision of Dr. Fred Luskin of Stanford University. I expanded my education and understanding of mental health while providing treatment at inpatient facilities where I served severely mentally ill and forensic patients. Overall, it was interesting to see such a spectrum of human functioning or dysfunctioning. I believe this led to influence my focus on positive psychology and human potential. I typically lead to the glass half-full, but I am realistic about things. I say "Explore life with curiosity, but with discerning open-mindedness."
Currently, I am researching and refining my evidenced-based treatments/trainings, which primarily use and Mindfulness and Positive Psychology techniques . I am presently offering services for adults and adolescents who are seeking to gain a greater understanding of themselves while cultivating more happiness and meaning in their lives. Additionally, I offer Mindfulness and Performance Consultation services, which help people to find more meaning and happiness in their work while improving the overall quality and efficiency of their work.
Please feel free to reach out, even if it's just a question. I wish a lot of what I have to share should be taught in schools. I know there would be a lot less anxiety, depression, less conflicted relationships, and more satisfaction if life with this information and tools. This goes towards my goal in life, which is to make the world a better place. Here is a beautiful point. The research shows that ONE act of kindness observed by others can have a trickle-over effect positively impacting up to 1000 people via 3 degrees of separation. Happiness is contagious, and I think that's pretty awesome.
